Introduction

What do you think of when you hear the words "technology integration"? While a recent national survey showed that most K12 schools in the United States have computers available and are wired to the Internet, that same survey indicated that most teachers are not using that technology as a regular part of their teaching (NCES, April 2000).

In addition, a recent international survey of teachers who used telecomputing projects in their classrooms indicated that participating in such projects helped them to improve their instructional design and lesson planning as well as to increase the variety of teaching and learning strategies they used in their classrooms.
